Summary:
The story begins by telling about Cambodian's life during Khmer Rouge. All city people were forced to live in the rural areas to do farming as normal local people were doing. In those days, it was so difficult for city people especially the young who never experiences farming at all. One rich and royal family also was forced to the countryside as well. This family consisted only one mother and a daughter since their father was killed by Khmer Rouge regime. This rich family became so poor with a matter of second. They hardly survived in that situation.

Movie Plot:
Champey and her father received lots of letters but they did not dare to read them. Until one day, Champey and her father decided to read the text that was sending from a militant from the battle ground. That militant names Yuth. Yuth is a military living far away from home. Yuth has an obligation to look after Kesor, the only one daughter of the rich, royal family. Before pass away, Kesor's mother asked Yuth to do everything in order to help bring Kesor back to her beautiful and happy life in the city. Yuth was busy fighting at the front. He thought Kesor is staying in the city already. He only sent a letter to her regularly. However, Kesor moved to another place already.

Those letters can't reach Kesor anymore but Champey's family. Until one day, Yuth decided to come for Kesor. He entered a house he supposed Kesor was there. However, Kesor was not there. Yuth was so disappointed. That night in Phnom Penh city, Yuth almost left the house to find Kesor but he heard a music from the other part of that house. He ask who is playing that music; he can tell that only two persons can play this. One is him and another is his close friend, names Chom Nou. Of course, Chom Nou is Champey's brother. That night Yuth did not go out to find Kesor as he met his old, close friend.

Champey and Chom Nou helped Yuth to find Kesor. They days and nights and all resources to find her but can't. Yuth stayed in Champey's house longer and he thought that he should move out. Yuth then returned to his homeland. He also thought that Kesor probably returned to live at the countryside. Yuth was right. Kesor is living in the countryside and always waiting for Yuth.

In fact, Kesor got married to another city boy. That boy supposed to be her cousin. But saddly that boy did not love her at all, except her wealth. Until they found out that Kesor has nothing anymore, her husband sold her to any rich gangs. She knew this and managed to escape. Kesor then ran to live one night in a temple with her little child. She then returned homeland at the countryside.

Yuth came back home and knew that Kesor is always waiting for him for so long. Yuth was so happy and he wanted to stay with Kesor forever. However, Kesor felt frustrated since she got married and has a baby already. Kesor refuse Yuth's love proposal once, twice and tripple. Until they understood each other, Yuth and Kesor can reunion again. Kesor's life is much better since.

Summary:

Movie Plot:

During her visit to human earth, Pov Chhouk unintentionally picked up a big watermelon of human being. She lost her title as an angel. She was punished for her mistake by letting her to stay with human and she cannot enjoy powerful powers anymore. She can't fly, neither can she use her magical power. Except in very special case that Pov Chhouk Saw can use it to escape from big trouble.

Because Pov Chhouk Saw met that poor but handsome man, she wanted to serve him. She, in every morning and noon, cooks nice breakfast and lunch for Mr. Vath. Mr. Vath was wondering how come someone cooks such nice foods for him. He tried to ask people around his house but nobody knows about it. Mr. Vath was even in deep doubt. One day, he pretend to go farming as normal but this time he returns home very early. He wants to catch who was preparing good foods for him in these three days. Finally, he caught her. It was Pov Chhouk Saw cooked foods for him. Mr. Vath was so happy because he has got a beautiful girl to live with him.

However, Mr. Vath like other villagers was in big debt. He borrowed money from the Commune Chief. And he can't return it on time. Every time when the Commune Chief sends people to collect money from villagers those who have little money can return as little as they have; and those who do not have will run away from the village for a while. Mr. Vath did this few times, too. But since Pov Chhouk Saw came to live with him, he can't do it anymore. Mr. Vath was confronting with the Commune Chief people. He told them that he did not have money and ask them to wait. But the collectors say they can't wait anymore.

New about Mr. Vath has a beautiful wife was sent to the Commune Chief. Next time the commune chief came to collection menoy by himself. And he saw Pov Chhouk Saw. He wanted her to be his 8th wife. The Commune Chief then tried to find way to get rid off Mr. Vath from the village so that Commune Chief can take Pov Chhouk Saw to his villa. The Commune Chief found one possible way to get rid off Mr. Vath. Mr. Vath has to return all money to the Commune Chief otherwise he has to bring a special medicine from far away province for the Commune Chief. As Mr. Vath does not have money and he thought he can bring that medicine for the Commune Chief, he agrees to leave the village.

Upon his leaving, Pov Chhouk was taken to live in the Commune Chief's house with seven other wifes. Those seven wifes do not happy with Pov Chhouk Saw. They felt jealous; they did something bad to Pov Chhouk Saw. Pov Chhouk Saw was badly ubused by those seven wifes.

At the end of the story, Pov Chhouk Saw's sister came to help her. And Deva Raja also lift up all punishment on Pov Chhouk Saw. Pov Chhouk becomes an angel again but she wants Mr. Vath to go with her. And of course, because Mr. Vath is a good person, never done something wrong, Deva Raja also blessed Mr. Vath and gave him power. Then Pov Chhouk Saw and Mr. Vath can live together.

Summary:
This film was taken during Khmer modernization after gaining independence from the French Colony in 1953. Filming industry in Cambodia was at its peak. There were many film producers and movies became one the best source of societal influence. Orn Ery Srey Orn, for example, drew lots of attention from the audiences right after its first releasing. Orn Ery Srey Orn is a movie telling about a close friend learning together in the same college. They two promise to help each other under whatever circumstances. Chey, who is originally named Kong Sam Eun, is a good, honest guy. But he is poor. His mother was sick for years. Sous, who is originally named Nop Nam, comes from a rich family. His father is a governor of a district.

Movie Plot:
Chey and Sous after finished their study, they both returned back home. Sous became a govenor of the district after his father grew older. Sous is living life with joy. He has everything he wants. He has lots of wife, wealth, house etc. He always entertains himself with beer, girl and singing.

Chey, on the other hand, lives his in a nightmare. After he came back home, his mother's sickness got even worse. Chey did not have money to cure his mother. Luckily, there is a really nice neighbor. They always give Chey's family a hand. They gave rice, foods and almost everything when Chey's family need. That neighboring family, of course, has only a mother and a daughter. That daughter names Srey Orn (originally names Virak Dara). Srey and Chey loves each other since early age. Srey Orn took care of Chey's mother during his studying in another province as she thought it's her role to be a good daughter in law in the future.

Chey was ashame to Srey Orn's family. He heard that his close friend Sous gained a position as a govenor of the district. Chey thought he will ask for help from his friend. That morning Chey prepare foods and leave the village for his close friend 'Sous'. At the entrance of his friend's house, Chey ask the guards to meet Mr. Sous. As Chey looks not so high profile, the guards did not allow him to meet Mr. Sous. Chey remains there and tell the guards that Mr. Sous who is now a govenor is my best friend. The guards and everybody standing there did not believe him at all because he looks so poor.

This information arise at his friend Sous. Mr. Chey was so happy. He though Mr. Sous will help him. Saddly, Mr. Sous pretended that he did not know Chey and order his guards to beat Chey and force him to go back home. Mr. Chey was so disappointed with his close friend. He thought Sous will help him. But right just knowing him or accepting as his friend was not at all.

Chey came back home and live on his foot. He and his little brother turn themselves to a street vendor. They are selling Khmer Traditional Noodle called "Nom Banh Chok". These two brothers were so happy as they earned much money for a living. Then Mr. Chey decided to get married to Srey Orn. Srey Orn and her family agreed and going to celebrate the wedding event.

Suddently, Mr. Sous soon knew that Mr. Chey is marrying to a beautiful girl. And that Mr. Sous also wants her as well. That day Mr. Sous pretends to be a kind person and wants to give hand to Mr. Chey. Actually, he plays a trick. Mr. Sous tries to find any possible way to take Mr. Chey away.
However, he can't. Mr. Chey and the villagers knew this and help Mr. Chey to kill Mr. Sous.

Finally, Chey got married to Srey Orn and since Mr. Sous died, Chey was appointed to be the govenor of the district.

Amazing temple - Prasat Bakong Temple, Siem Reap

Cambodian said to be proud having such wonderful and thousand of temples in the whole country, most of which build before and during 14th century. Today, our journey took place in one famous temple in Siem Reap province. The temple is called "Prasat Bakong" in Khmer "ប្រាសាទបាគង". Through this video clip, it provides a lot of attractive scenery with some explanation from our local guide. Historically, this temple was built earlier than the most famous Angkor Wat that's why we can see the temple hardly stands against this polluted environment. The temple need to be preserved as such inclusive participation highly recommended. Join with Cambodian and UNESCO to preserve ancient temple.

Detail Description:

Bakong is located at Roluos south of Preah Ko. Enter and leave the temple at the east. A modern Buddhist temple is situated to the right of the east entrance to Bakong. It was build in late ninth century (881) by king Indravarman I dedicated to Siva (Hindu) followed Prah Ko art style.

The temple of Bakong is built on an artificial mountain and enclosed in a rectangular area by two walls. It has a square base with five tiers. The first, or outside, enclosure (not on the plan) (900 by 700 meters, 2,953 by 2,297 feet) surrounds a moat with an embankment and causeways on four sides, which are bordered by low Naga balustrades.

The second and smaller enclosure has an entry tower of sandstone and laterite in the center of each side of the wall. There were originally 22 towers inside the first enclosures. After passing through the entry tower at the east one comes to a long causeway decorated with large seven-headed serpents across a moat. Long halls on each side lie parallel to the eastern wall. They were probably rest houses for visitors.

The square-shaped base (10) has five tiers with a stairway on each of the four sides and, at the base, a step in the shape of a moonstone. Remains of a small structure can be seen at the base of the stairway fairway flanked by two sandstone blocks, which may have held sculpted figures.

Elephants successively smaller in size stand at the corners of the first three tiers of the base. The fourth tier is identified by twelve small sandstone towers, each of which originally contained a linga. The fifth tier is framed by a molding decorated with a frieze of figures (barely visible) the ones on the south side are in the best condition.

Siem Reap is one of the most famous city in Cambodia and Asia. There are many things attractive to be experience. As often said, those who visited Siem Reap do not want to leave. They usually extend their stay because they are hungry to enjoy visiting thousand temples, unique culture, delicious food, hospitalized stay and safer to walk around. Like they were said, this video shows beautiful girls and boys acting in particular wedding culture in Asia. It is very funny to watch also. If Cambodia is your destination of traveling, do not look over Siem Reap. Sure, it is very joyful and timeless stay.

Why indegenous Wedding Culture is celebrating in Cambodia?
There has been such long tradition that Cambodia is a country respecting diversity. Although it is predominantly Khmer ethnic but Cambodia is always welcoming other ethnicities to live altogether peacefully and harmony. Consequently, throughout the country and as most visitors often see Cambodian government is encouraging to organize such activities to promote culture of diversity. As in Siem Reap province, Cambodian and general visitors locally and internationally could come and enjoy the play of different tribes in Phumi Vabthor in Khmer or Cultural Village in English. From early morning till late at night, this village opens for visitors with low fee entrance. Visitors can come and buy tickets at the counter or via online.

What are they doing so far in this village?
They will be lots of plays from many tribes showing their way of life and how they have been evolved over time. There are Chinese, Kola, Kreng, Khmer American, Vietnamese, and also the big show of King Jayavaraman the 7th.

Poor children leaving behind Angkor Wat

Poor children at Angkor Wat temple is selling some souvenirs or gifts in order to earn a living.

What happens to their parents? Who care them? Or do all these children have to take care of their mother, fathers instead. It seems like that. They are working all say long to sell some gift to visitors around Angkor War temple. For most visitors, they fear of these children. They did not buy any gifts from them. They did not even pay attention to the children's difficulty and suffering. Who care? Probably, visitors both national and international may think that it is not their responsbility; it's their parents or government respsobility and accountability. That is why visitors just pass by and never drop their one or both eyes on these poor children.

This is not an accepted behavior. Visitors and those who meet them should do something. Help as much they can. The best and very first thing they should do is to make happy with hope. Then can buy them a book to read or rather buy those children's gift. Also, better find a suitable place for them to get education. It can be in NGOs school or public school. At least, say some words to them and don't make them hurt if you can't do other thing else.

So sad to make this video clip and I'm sure it is also so pity for you to watch it. At the same time few people enjoy making a lot of money from Angkor Wat, becoming richest in the country, living in a good villa, eating delicious food, driving modern cars and wearing civilized clothes, many, especially poor children from very poor family, are left behind. During my journey to Angkor Wat, I had interviewed with those children about their everyday life. I've asked them about studying: they tend to answer nothing. Yes, they said they went to school but not so often or temporarily leave school for their business. In fact, they are on the street selling some souvenirs and others for a living. I don't know if they do this because their parents force or not. But I know for sure that they have to be strong and survive. That's why started to earn for a living since very little. This is the tragedy for the country. The share-earning from Angkor Wat may go only to few people and not everyone that is why we usually see poor living on the street of the modern city. Governance and human security seem very low in this society.

American government criticizes for the act of violence in Cambodia 2013

Cambodian government must respect human rights. People are free to demonstrate peacefully. They should not be stopped just because of different political views. Rather, government should responsibly offer a good care to their own citizens because it is their only role. In addition, peaceful methods such as negotiation, compromise must be put so that conflict are avoided. Yet, such act of violence done lately is completely contrary to above principles. They should go back to the table fairly and openly discuss what to be done to bring greater interests for whole Cambodians.

By whatever mean, discussion is the only approachable solution for all parties in Cambodia. They should put Cambodian interests above all. They should not using violent forces against civilians and innocent people. Rather they should come together and put all issues on the table and begin their negotiation. Because all parties claim to defend Cambodian and national interests, there must be a room for compromising and there must be available options for all involved parties to work together to reach their ended goals.

As far Human Rights is concerned, the ruling government must not use force to depress or put pressure on the opposition parties to reach the deal. From fair competiton, they should accept the result and since their national allows them to recount the ballots, they should do so in a case of unproper during national election. Nothing will be worse, if the result shows the same or different since the opposition or the ruling party win, they would lead to country to better, too. That's their ended goal. Or is it because they wanted to rule the government because they could earn lots of money?

They may be able to earn lots of money from their position but what will be the next result in the next national election? They won't be able to stay in power anymore. People and everybody knows that. They can't hide it. 

At least 4 killed in clash between government forces in Cambodia

Sadly, innocent, unarmed Cambodians were killed during a peaceful demonstration lately. Based on Human Rights Watch, protestors peacefully protested. But they are celebrating a party in the evening and everyone almost went home, the government force came in and hit them violently. And that the clash broke up; many injures and about 4 get killed.

Five people were shot dead and more than 20 injured, most suffering gunshot wounds, when military police officers opened fire with AK-47 assault rifles during clashes with protesters armed with stones, sticks and crude Molotov cocktails on Veng Sreng Street in the heart of the garment factory zone in Phnom Penh’s Pur Senchey district on Friday.

Said local rights group Licadho, the killings represent terrible state violence against civilians and innocent people. In 15 years this is one of the single worst incidents ever to hit the country’s key garment industry, which employs more than 600,000 people in hundreds of mostly foreign-owned firms.

Garment factory workers went strike peacefully to increase their wage to around 160 USD. They did not expect such horrible response from the government which led to deaths and injuries of many peaceful strikers in the capital, the heart city of the Cambodia Kingdom.

Violence in the Veng Sreng Street area was erupted in late Thursday night when reportedly some youths intended to block roads and set fire to some car tires nearby in an intention to call for freedom of detentions of 15 strikers, union leaders and monks by members of the paratrooper 911 Brigade at the Yakjin garment factory, also in Pur Senchey district.

At that time, it was around 2:00 amp of Friday morning, there were hundreds of police and military police tried to quell the unrest but they unsuccessful stopped it, said Licadho officers in its statement. There were up to 2,000 “mixed security forces” had gathered in the area by the time shooting broke out around 10 a.m Friday.

Since early in the morning, hundreds of young workers including men and women stood behind make-shift barricades in the middle of street namely Veng Sreng, which they had made from wooden market stalls and metal street signs, and from where they hurled stones at the military police. Many of the rioting youths had crude Molotov cocktails, though none appeared to hit the military police lines.

Till around 9:00 a.m. in that morning there were two military helicopters flew over the protest site and another. Then at 9:30 a.m. hundreds of military police officers who marched at front of the protesters near the Canadia Industrial Park were ready to march. But the clashes almost went up to 100 decree Celsius.

At around 10:00 a.m. in that morning is when the fire was opening. Under a barrage of stones thrown by more than 100 protesters, the military police opened fire around 10 a.m., shooting hundreds of bullets at the demonstrators, including firing at the upper balconies of buildings where protesters were standing and hurling objects.

This was the tragic history of killing and violence after the country was set on peaceful process for about 20 years. The human rights situation which was supposed to get much improved the end of the fiscal year rather turns down.

Till today, innocent civilians and many peaceful strikers can’t reach their demands. They rather lost their love ones and are awaiting for justice. However, hope of much improve working condition, wages and other kinds of salary became less and less visible for garment factory workers in the whole country. No one knows for sure if all workers will get protected by the factories and the government. Perhaps the next national election that will be taken place in 2018 answer all of these problems.

Leuven is the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant in the Flemish Region, Belgium. It is located about 25 kilometres east of Brussels, close to other neighbouring towns such as Mechelen, Aarschot, Tienen, and Wavre.

It is home to Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewing group and one of the five largest consumer-goods companies in the world; and to the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the largest and oldest university of the Low Countries and the oldest Catholic university still in existence. It is also home to the UZ Leuven, one of the largest hospitals of Europe.

The earliest mention of Leuven ("Loven") is from 891, when a Viking army was defeated by the Frankish king Arnulf of Carinthia (see: Battle of Leuven). According to a legend its red-white-red colours depict the blood-stained shores of the river Dijle after this battle.

Situated beside this river, and near to the stronghold of the Dukes of Brabant, Leuven became between the 11th and 14th centuries the most important centre of trade in the duchy. A token of its former importance as a centre of cloth manufacture is shown in that ordinary linen cloth is known in late-14th-century and 15th-century texts as lewyn (other spellings: Leuwyn,Levyne, Lewan(e), Lovanium, Louvain).

In the 15th century a new golden era began with the founding of what is now the largest and oldest university in the Low Countries, the Catholic University of Leuven, in 1425.

In the 18th century the brewery Den Horen (meaning "the horn") flourished. In 1708 Sebastien Artois became the master brewer at Den Horen, and gave his name to the brewery in 1717, now part of AB InBev, whose flagship beer, Stella Artois, is brewed in Leuven and sold in many countries.

Leuven has several times been besieged or occupied by foreign armies; these include the Battle of Leuven (891), Siege of Leuven (1635) and Battle of Leuven (1831).

Both world wars in the 20th century inflicted major damage upon the city. Upon Germany's entry into World War I, the town was heavily damaged by rampaging soldiers. Some German soldiers shot the burgomaster, the university rector and all of the city's police officers. In all, about 300 civilians lost their lives. The university library was also destroyed on 25 August 1914, using petrol and incendiary pastilles. 230,000 volumes were lost in the destruction, including Gothic and Renaissance manuscripts, a collection of 750 medieval manuscripts, and more than 1,000 incunabula (books printed before 1501). The destruction of the library shocked the world, with the Daily Chronicle describing it as war not only against civilians but also against "posterity to the utmost generation." It was rebuilt after the war, and much of the collection was replaced. Great Britain (on the initiative of the John Rylands Library, Manchester) and the United States were major providers of material for the replenishment of the collection. The new library building was financed by the National Committee of the United States for the Restoration of the University of Louvain and built to the design of architect Whitney Warren; it was officially opened on 4 July 1928.
